I cannot believe how time is passing by, it is now Wednesday 3^rd August and we are off again. This time we are taking a day trip down to Mataranka to swim in the thermal pools that this town is famous for, before we got there though we decided to take a detour into Cutta Cutta Caves. This is cave system features limestone formations of stalactites and a few stalagmites.

The caves were discovered by a stock man walking his cows across the area. When he got to where he was going he discovered he had a few cows missing and when he went back to look for them he found that they had fallen down into the caves. It was first called Smiths Caves until the local indigenous people went down into the caves with some rangers and found that when they looked up and shone their torches onto them it looked like the stars shining in the night. This was from the crystals that were in the rocks, the caves were then given protection and renamed Cutta Cutta Caves or Many Stars. Inside the caves live various animals, we spotted a brushed tailed wallaby and another species of bat. Was an interesting cave system and very pretty in places.

Then on our way to Mataranka for a much looked forward dip in the thermal pools. When we got there it was not unlike the thermal pool we have at home, the difference being that these pools flow straight from the river with a modifications made by man and that it is all natural, we even say a school of small fish swimming with us. This was a relaxing way to spend an afternoon, floating around the river pools. After which we took a short walk along a board walk and spotted a crocodile sitting across a log in the same river that we had just swum in. Oh the fun we are having.

Our time in Katherine has come to an end and we headed of back to camp to pack up and move onto our next stop.
